District 1 Representative - Barbara Irby, KC1KGS
I was first licensed in 2018 and worked my way to Amateur Extra in 2019. I have been a YLRL member since 2019 and District One Chair since 2020. I enjoy nets, club activities (including Field Day!), and radio special events as I have time. I am an active VE for our ARRL VEC-I am thrilled to bring new hams into the hobby-especially YLs-and upgrade existing ones. I am a member of the committee that hosts the ARRL New England Convention (HamXposition) each year. I enjoy learning what other YLs in our district are doing with amateur radio-lots of talent out there! I am a member of several ham radio clubs but spend most of my time with STARS (Sci-Tech Amateur Radio Society) of New England Sci-Tech education center/maker space in Natick, MA. My OM is Jim, WB4EJR, who has been a ham for many decades. We live in Natick, MA, about 20 miles west of Boston.

August 24th, 2024 Yl’s got together for the YL Meet and Greet at the Northeast HamXposition (the ARRL New England Division Convention). YLs came and went, but we took a photo of who was there at some point! We shared what we liked in amateur radio, the challenges we faced as YLs and the support we can get from each other.
