2024 YLRL Convention
Dixie Convention Center St. George, Utah July 11-14, 2024,
The 2024 YLRL Convention was held in St George Utah, July 11-14 at the Dixie Convention Center in conjunction with HamCon:Zion.
We had approximately 43 people in attendance. The arriving attendees on Thursday, July 11 were met in the hotel lobby where the YLRL committee provided them with their goodie bags. Those arriving on Friday, July 12 got their goodie bags at the YL registration table at the Convention Center.
There were several tours on Friday. In the morning the attendees had a choice of the YL & OM Tour – Zion Trek or Walking Tour with stop via Van. This was followed by the Vendor Mix and Mingle and the YLRL Presentation.
On Saturday, July 13 at the President’s breakfast was where the YL officers, committee members and volunteers were thanked for their service to YLRL. The YL group picture was taken outside which was followed YLRL Business Meeting and YLRL Luncheon. During the YLRL Business Meeting and Luncheon some of the OMs went on the Little Hollywood Movie Museum tour while others attended HamCon:Zion hamfest. After the luncheon, some YLs attended the Arduino University YL Only presentation while others went on the YL-OM Gunlock Loop Tour. The evening concluded with the HamCon:Zion Banquet which also included a blackout that was not planned.
On Sunday, July 14, the attendees bid farewell at breakfast to each other but promised to meet again.

Convention Tours
YL & OM Tour – Zion Trek
A self-guided tour where you can tour Zion National Park (additional $20 per person to enter unless you have a park pass) and then take the park shuttle or explore the quaint town of Springdale with its shopping and eateries.
Cost: $25
YL-OM Walking Tour with stop via Van
The first stop is Red Hills Desert Garden where you spend 45 min to walk through the garden. Second stop is Dixie rock (45 min stop) a short, fairly easy hike to the top affords brilliant views and picture opportunities. Third stop is the Brigham Young house. Fourth stop is Ancestor Square that has restaurants for lunch (pay your own). Fifth stop is St. George Tabernacle and last stop is the St. George Temple grounds that has a Visitor’s center to learn about the construction and religious significance of the pioneer building.

YL-OM Gunlock Loop
A driving tour that would take participants (in a van) on the route the locals call, “the Gunlock Loop.” Includes entry into Snow Canyon State Park There would be two stops within the park, another at the overlook above the park and another at the Gunlock Falls.
Cost $30
OM Tour-Little Hollywood Movie Museum
The Little Hollywood Movie Museum reveals how Southern Utah became the back-lot for some of the most spectacular movies ever made in Hollywood. From its beginnings with Tom Mix in Deadwood Coach to the recent Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition photo shoot, Southern Utah defines the landscapes of the American West. This is where many westerns were filmed, including a good number of John Wayne films.
Cost $30 includes lunch
